My inbox and the blogosphere have been filled with product launch and other information emanating from Infocomm. AMX holds the record for sending me the most mail. Extron comes a close second with Sony trailing in third. Sorry folks - I hit delete most of the time.
Consistent news coming from those that went to Infocomm is that the number of visitors were down but the quality of those that went (from the exhibitors point of view) was good. Unsure as to whether this is the optimists talking things up or the reality. Let's hope the latter. I am also hearing a solid vote for ISE and the fact that this has gotten so comprehensive there really is no need to attend the mother Stateside show. And of course the training is in metric! However I believe global manufacturers will still treat "Infocomm USA" as the primary event with product development and launch cycles continuing to be focussed on the month of June.
One other point that has become standard feedback from both those that went to Orlando and recent sales calls I have received is the ongoing (unecessary) animosity between Crestron and Extron (in alphabetical order in case the listing order causes a dispute). You both do touchscreens. You both do switchers. You each claim that one is better than the other. The whole industry knows already. Get over it. It's a competitive market out there. The technologies are converging. Just do the industry a favour (favor) and stop promoting confusion and specmanship. That helps no one and serves to hurt the market in these difficult times.
